Bhoju’s pride- Story of a boastful tortoise, for children
Once upon a time, there was a tortoise that lived in a forest. His name was Bhoju. Bhojuwas very boastful about his great achievements and skills. But no one respected him or listened to him. This made him very sad. Meanwhile, On the other side of the forest lived a cat- Mitty. Mitty was a good wrestler. He was also considered to be a wise cat by the animals in the forest. One day, Bhoju had an idea. He wanted to meet Mitty and take lessons from him on wrestling. Thereby, he thought the animals would respect him. One morning, Bhoju went to meet Mitty at his house and requested him to teach wrestling. Mitty agreed. And the classes began on the very next day. Mitty taught Bhoju all the tricks of wrestling step by step. Bhoju was a quick learner… Soon, Bhoju became an expert wrestler. Thereby, the classes also ended. Within a few days, Bhoju called all animals and asked to wrestle with him. The animals were surprised by his confidence Jumba the gorilla tried. But lost to Bhoju Then it was Hari- the elephant’s turn. But he also lost to Bhoju. As per the expectation of Bhoju, all the animals started respecting him. Except Mitty! Mitty did not care about Bhoju’s growing respect. Neither did he care for Bhoju. This concerned Bhoju. He wanted to teach him a lesson. The next day, Bhoju asked his own teacher Mitty to wrestle with him. He invited all the animals to watch the show. Both of them started the contest. Bhoju was moving and holding grip faster and faster. Mitty was also giving a tough fight. After an hour-long fight, Bhoju threw Mitty up into the air. Mitty rotated in the air and landed on his feet safely. It was Mitty’s turn, he threw Bhoju up in the air. Poor Bhoju was not aware of this trick. Mitty had cleverly hidden this trick from him. BoastBhoju landed on his back crashing. He fractured his back and legs. All the animals celebrated Mitty’s success. From the next day, all the animals started teasing Bhoju for his misadventure.
