Story of Kukur Dev
A dog is called a man’s best friend for its loyalty and the love it showers on its caretakers.
Durg district, in Chhattisgadh in India, has a temple dedicated to a dog. It is called Kukur Dev. The temple dates back to several hundred years and has a very interesting story behind it. Let’s hear…
Long ago there was a poor gypsy who had a dog. Now, gypsies are people who do not stay in a particular place- they are also called nomads.
When famine hit the village and there was nothing to eat, he went to a moneylender’s house and sold the dog.
The dog was very sad to leave his dear master. The gypsy realized this. But he had no choice.
He was taken good care of at the new place and the dog started settling down.
One night, a few thieves broke into the moneylender’s house when everyone was fast asleep.
They stole all the valuables from the money lender’s house.
The dog saw the thieves but did not bark, instead he quietly followed them.
